November 20th – New Moon in Scorpio with Mercury Cazimi, Opposite Uranus and part of a Grand Water Trine.
This New Moon in Scorpio is one of the most talked-about lunations of the season, and for good reason. We are sitting inside a Grand Water Trine with Jupiter in Cancer, Saturn and Neptune and the North Node in Pisces, and a cluster of planets moving through Scorpio (Mars, Mercury, the Sun, the Moon, and Venus). This is deep emotional water. Psychic water. Ancestral water. Piranha infested water.
It pulls up everything we’ve denied, everything we’ve suppressed, everything we thought we had moved on from, everything that has its teeth in us, and Scorpio demands nothing less than truth. Unadulterated, unfiltered, brackish truth.
But I want to speak about this lunation through my lens, because there’s something specific unfolding here that goes far beyond the typical keywords people attach to Scorpio.
More Than Power, Control, and Secrets
We all know the standard Scorpio associations: power, control, manipulation, truth and lies, obsession, exposure. But there’s one vital theme that is often forgotten, because it’s less glamorous and more uncomfortable:
Scorpionic Surrender.
Not the floaty spiritual, transcendent surrender we associate with Pisces.
But the stripping bare.
The casting off of what is false.
The removal of what no longer belongs to you.
The realization of what is actually yours, and what never was supposed to be.
Scorpio’s surrender is about releasing the mask, releasing the attachment, releasing the power struggle, releasing the versions of ourselves that cling to what we’ve outgrown.
This New Moon is a revelation, a reclamation, and a surrender to the truth of what will nourish you at a soul level. Some things are meant to be drunk deep, even if it burns all the way down.
The Mercury–Uranus Story: What Was Ignored Cannot Stay Hidden
To understand this New Moon, we have to look at the unfolding opposition between Mercury and Uranus.
The First Pass (October)
Mercury at 0° Sagittarius
Uranus at 0° Gemini
Mercury was deep in shadow.
Uranus was retrograde.
This was the spark: the shock, the message, the miscommunication, the moment something slipped through that wasn’t supposed to. Or, maybe it was, but nothing really came of it.
The Second Pass (Mercury Retrograde)
Now Mercury is in Scorpio, retrograde.
Uranus has moved back to 29° Taurus.
This is where we confronted the uncomfortable truth.
The realization of what we missed, avoided, or refused to see the first time. Only now, we’re digging deeper into it, we’re not letting go until we can grasp it in our hands, no matter the pain.
The Final Pass — December 10 at 28° Taurus/Scorpio
The final pass comes when Mercury is direct in Scorpio and Uranus is still retrograde.
This is not another shock.
This is the smoothing-over phase.
- The static clears.
- The misunderstanding resolves.
- The discord settles.
- The meaning becomes clear.
- The intensity starts to integrate.
This final pass is closure.
It is the point at which we understand what the hell all of this was about. How to move forward from it.
Saturn’s Bound: The Weight of the New Moon
This New Moon takes place in Saturn’s bound of Scorpio, which adds a heaviness. It can feel like:
- spinning your wheels
- sinking into mud or mire
- stuck in dark emotional quicksand surrdounded by fire ants
Saturn slows things down so we cannot escape the reality of what must be faced.
And Saturn itself is at 25° Pisces, sitting in the bound of Mars, creating a tension between:
- Saturn: “No. Slow down. Take responsibility.”
- Mars: “Now. Act. Move forward.”
This is where the consequences of long-term choices or long-term inaction rise to the surface.
The New Moon asks:
Where must you take action that no one else can take for you?
Where must you reclaim your own authority?
Where have you outsourced your own power?
Jupiter’s Role: Deep Healing From the Root
Because Saturn is in Pisces, we must consider Jupiter — the ruler of Pisces, and Mars, the ruler of Saturn’s bound.
Jupiter is exalted in Cancer and in its own bound.
This gives Jupiter full power to:
- heal
- expand
- nourish
- restore
- unearth the emotional truth
- repair family-of-origin wounds
- move ancestral grief
- shift generational patterns
This New Moon is a call to emotional healing at the root, not the surface.
Ask yourself:
What needs to be healed in your emotional body?
What part of your lineage is asking for release?
What family pattern has reached its breaking point?
This is the beginning of a new chapter.
Mars in Sagittarius: Action With Vision
Mars is in Sagittarius, currently in Jupiter’s bound, asking:
- What action can you take with the bigger picture in mind?
- What philosophy do you need to put down; or pick up?
- What must be cut away to make room for something real, aligned, purposeful?
Mars in Sagittarius is the arrow:
Clear the path, choose a direction, and move toward truth. And to be fair, sometimes we have to take a step back, as with arrows, they must be pulled backward in order to fly true.
Venus in Scorpio: The Trauma Bond Question
With Venus also in Scorpio, this lunation exposes the emotional entanglements we prefer not to name.
Have we trauma bonded?
Where have we confused intensity with intimacy?
Where are we enmeshed in dynamics that are toxic, whether emotionally, psychologically, or spiritually?
Who is the toxic one? The other person, or the version of ourselves we become in that relationship?
Venus in Scorpio exposes:
- where obsession replaced connection
- where merging replaced boundaries
- where pain became familiar
- where desire became compulsion
- where we stayed because the intensity felt safer than the unknown
This New Moon asks a simple, uncomfortable question:
Are you bonded… or are you trapped?
Are you in love… or in a loop?
Are you choosing them… or choosing the wound?
The Heart of This New Moon
This lunation is not soft.
It is not gentle.
It is not passive.
It is a truth-serum Moon. And as with all serum’s, it can hurt or it can heal, and perhaps it does a little of both.
It is the moment when:
- the mask comes off
- the pattern breaks
- the truth emerges
- the wound reveals itself
- the path forward becomes undeniable
It is the moment of:
Revelation.
Reclamation.
Surrender.
If you allow it, this New Moon becomes a turning point — the beginning of a chapter that aligns with who you truly are, beneath the conditioning, the trauma, the patterns, and the pain.
